February 19th: The Rain Brings a Halt to a Busy Weekend

What a weekend!! College baseball started the season, softball is going strong, and men's and women's basketball are in the final stretch heading toward March. I, personally, started things off on Friday with CSU's season opener versus Georgetown and went back Saturday for the first game of a double-header (still against Georgetown), then WBB's "Play 4 Kay" and MBB's final home game!

Baseball ended up losing the game to Georgetown, 2-1. Even still, it's hard not to get excited about baseball!

Hard to beat a warm afternoon and some baseball!!

Missing SomethingAlex Tomasovich (9, CSU) looses the ball whiel trying to make the play at second base. Georgetown defeated CSU, 2-1. February 17, 2012.
This seemed to be a theme this weekend, hopefully the boys will work that issue out before they play Savannah State on Wednesday.

This time, Alex Tomasovich (9, CSU) snags the ball and makes the tag out at second. Georgetown defeated CSU, 2-1. February 17, 2012.

The Lady Bucs hosted High Point University for their "Play 4 Kay" game, and they came out on top 77-72.

The Men's Basketball team hosted Wofford. Not only was this a "ESPN BracketBuster" game... not only was this the final home game of the season... It was Kelvin Martin's FINAL home game as he's set to graduate this spring. He put on a show in their 77-59 dismantling of Wofford...

Feb 13th: Softball last weekend!!

The spring sports are getting started and CSU softball kicked things off against Furman University this weekend. I only went to one of the 3 games (and it was really cold), but here's some of what I got.

It didn't take long... my first time photographing a softball game and Ms. Jana Matthews tried to kill me. I didn't think it was the right handed batters I needed to worry about on the 3rd baseline. She proved me wrong, and the team warned me that she does it a lot. I'll be on my toes next time. I did manage to catch it on camera though:

It may not look like it, but this ball is coming right at me. Fortunatelty it hit the gloves that were in my pocket.

I learned a lot and can't wait to get out to shoot some baseball (they start this coming weekend) and try again with some softball.

The Men's Basketball team played High Point University later that day, I'll post photos from that later this week.

Feb 8th: A lot of catching up to do...

A LOT has happened since my last blog post so there's lots to post! However, before I get to that... If you haven't seen my twitter (@tandrewsphoto) or Facebook or Charleston Southern Athletic's twitter (@csusports) in the last 2 days, head on over to http://www.facebook.com/collegeslam?sk=app_372741556074479  and vote for Kelvin Martin. He's up against Bryan Narcisse from Clemson (which is obviously a bigger school), so he needs your help!!

WAAAAY back on Jan 21st, the Bucs Mens basketball team took on Winthrop and came away with the 77-66 victory.

The "Dome Squad" was in rare form that night.

Sometimes I think Saah Nimley spends more time "floating" across the court than does actually on his feet.

And the shot of the night:

On January 28th, the Lady Bucs took on Coastal Carolina in what proved to be a thrilling second half where Rachelle Coward nailed a 3 with 1.5 ticks left on the clock to put CSU up, 69-66.

Among others, Sam took what I think is an insanely cool picture:

On February 4th, the Lady Bucs came roaring back in the second half of the game to defeat UNC-Asheville, 88-70.

On February 6th, the Lady Bucs concluded a season sweep of Gardner-Webb, coming away with the 86-66 win.

...and I'm spent...
