October 31st: Been so busy...

Life has been getting in the way lately, so I'm obviously behind here... Thursday I managed to make it for the second half of the CSU Soccer game, and to my delight, the Lady Bucs were kind enough to save the scoring until I got there.

Only 1:54 into the second half (and about 8 minutes after my arrival), Morgann Wood (18) started off the scoring for CSU.

Amy Arroyo, apparently, didn't get the start but came into the game after an injury.

Gardner-Webb's keeper saw a lot of action, at least in the second half.

I'm always amazed at how physical these games are. I have very little exposure to women's soccer, but so far, the Lady Bucs have me convinced that women soccer players are far tougher than their male counterparts.

As always, the rest of the photos from the game can be found under "Sports", specifically here for this game.

October 25th: My shots from this weekend

Yesterday I posted some of Sam's photos from this weekends events and last night I finally had a chance to get my processed and uploaded, so here are some of those:

Not being much of a soccer fan, I've either never noticed this before or this was what I would (in hockey terms) call a chippy game between Charleston Southern University and Campbell University. Lots of holding and plenty of physicality:

Sadly, the linesman stepped in the way of this sequence:

I really liked these as well:

"You sit down and think about what you've done!"

I also went with Sam to the volleyball game Friday evening, didn't get as many good shots as Sam did, but I did alright.

October 24th: Back after a long weekend

We've been awfully busy over the past week. We added a new piece of gear to our bags and the mite/squirt hockey team I coach had their first game Saturday. On top of that, I was the linesman for 2 U18 hockey games this weekend, and we tried to take in as many of the CSU sporting events that we could, so...

Here's Sam putting our new camera gear to use during some Goose Creek Rec Soccer action on Thursday:

She captured some more action at the CSU Volleyball game Friday evening, where, unfortunately, they lost to Gardner Webb. They had a great push towards the end of the set, though!

Saturday morning started off with some scrambled eggs with goat cheese, and then we headed off to see CSU take on Campbell University on the pitch:

Finally, we managed to get some hockey in the mix as well.

Between Sam and I (those were all her photos above) we took over 2000 photos since Thursday, so keep your eye out, we'll be posting more. We've only begun to process all of them!!

October 18th: S/V Illyria

The last couple of days have been pretty rough; I've been feeling like crap. It's really unfortunate too, because it really put a damper on the end of a great weekend. I got to go sailing!! There was a CORA race from Charleston to the Bohicket Marina and back; it was a great time. However, as we were returning to the marina Sunday evening, we had some engine troubles which meant we couldn't dock at our normal berth. Always the optimist, I immediately spotted a photo op that I'd been waiting for...

October 17th

So, I haven't been feeling well today, and I had a really busy weekend of sailing, so... Here are a couple of photos that Sam took recently. I really love them!!

I really like the depth of field as well as the desaturated leaves in this one:

And this one is just plain awesome!!

October 12th: CSU Science Building and Greenhouse

Another from Sunday's sunrise adventure... This is the side of the CSU Science building that is opposite the reflecting pool as well as the greenhouse.

October 11th: Benches at the CSU Reflecting Pool

Once I had finished taking all the photos I had set out to during Sunday's sunrise, I picked up my tripod and started walking back to the car. As I walked past these, I happen to glance over my shoulder and notice how nicely the trees framed the benches with the sunrise in the background... digital film is cheap, right!! ;)

October 10th: Lightsey Chapel Sunrise

Given that I didn't have to work today, I decided to get out of bed nice and early yesterday and see if I could get some good sunrise shots. The sunrise wasn't SPECTACULAR (it was on Friday when I didn't have my camera, of course), but I did manage to get some good shots.

Sam and I are headed to Columbia tomorrow to see the Wildcats take on the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. We, of course, will be cheering on the Wildcats. Even if it wasn't for Sam, I can imagine getting behind a teams who's battle cry is "Go Cocks"!!

Oct 7th: Getting ready for tomorrow.... GO CATS!!

I should also mention that I don't own any licensing right from the University of Kentucky... but I do own this sweet new hat! ;)

October 4th: Shoot the Moon

Armed with my new tripod, I set out to once again, shoot the moon. Still not quite as sharp as I'd like, I think I may have reached the limitations of my lens (guess I need to get a new one!!!).

Oct 4th: Armed with a new tripod, I'm trying my hand and shooting the moon again.

October 2nd: King Neptune

After a brief hiatus while being with a friend, I'm back. I was actually able to get away for some quality time with my camera, but I didn't bring a computer with me. So here's the first of some shots I captured in Virginia Beach.

Oct 2nd: I'm back!!! With King Neptune
