Nov 7th: Big South Conference Women's Soccer

We were on the sidelines for the quarter and semi final games of the Big South Conference Women's Soccer Championships. It has become very clear to me that a new computer is in our future. I love my '07 MacBook Pro, but processing nearly 8,500 pictures is a task that it's not quite up to in any kind of speedy fashion. With that said, I'll share some of my favorite from the CSU game on Thursday evening (the MBP is working hard to upload the last 3 games).

The girls looked to be in good spirits, despite having to start the tournament against Winthrop, who beat them last Saturday, 3-0. It was pretty awesome to have the game at night, under the lights of Blackbaud Stadium. I don't know about the rest of the schools in the Big South Conference, but CSU's soccer field has no lights.

Apparently there was a big concert at Blackbaud Stadium and it did quite a number of the field. The grass was in pretty terrible condition. The silver lining, though, is that because the turf was so bad, the player's cleats picked up sand with nearly every step, which made for some pretty cool photos, especially under the lights.

I'm not 100% sure it's not just the angle here, but it definitely looks to me like #9 (Aislinn McIlvenny) is steering that other girl around... by the face, which, in a word, is AWESOME.

The girls played, what I thought, was a great game. They had plenty of chances that they just couldn't quite finish and regulation ended in a 0-0 tie... as did the first OT... and the second OT, only to lose in (the worst way in all of sports, in my opinion) penalty kicks.

There's definitely more of this to come over the next few days, but for now, I'll leave you with one of my favorite shots of the weekend:
